Where and when
The casino's address is 421 12 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1A5. Its official site is cowboyscasino.ca.
The floor is open daily, 9:30 AM to 5:00 AM. The slot machines keep a slightly later morning start and run from 10 AM to 5 AM.
The poker room runs on a separate schedule and is open 24 hours daily. Every day, live table games operate from 12 PM until 3 AM. The craps table runs Wednesday to Saturday from 7 PM to 3 AM. For a wider view of early starts across the city, see Morning hours.
Getting in
Gambling in Alberta is for adults. The legal age is 18, and minors are not permitted in a casino facility unless its licence allows them. Under provincial casino rules, staff check government-issued photo ID whenever someone appears to be under 25.
A valid photo ID is needed, for example a passport or driver's licence.
On the floor
The floor has slot machines and live table games. This guide leaves out machine and table counts, because the published figures disagree.
The poker room is described on the casino's own site in more detail:
- Open 24/7, with Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Pineapple and other games
- Nine-handed tables and Shuffle Master machines
- 11 HD televisions
- Free coffee and soft drink stations
For a mid-morning or lunch visit, the poker room is the one part of the floor whose hours are confirmed around the clock.
Winner's Edge is AGLC's province-wide player rewards program for casinos throughout Alberta. Membership costs nothing, and sign-up works online, through a kiosk or with Guest Services. Members collect the card at Guest Services by showing government ID.
Food and extras
This guide does not list current outlet names or hours. Check cowboyscasino.ca for what is open during the day.
Alberta law bans smoking and vaping in enclosed public places and workplaces. It also bans smoking within 5 metres of doorways, windows that open, and air intakes.
Getting there
Without a car, Victoria Park / Stampede CTrain station is within walking distance of the casino. Neither the casino nor Calgary Transit publishes a walking distance. Station maps are on calgarytransit.com. More notes on reaching each venue by transit are under Without a car.
By car, visitors will find free heated underground parking at the casino. The parkade takes vehicles up to 6'1" (6 feet 1 inch) in height.
Before you go
- Hours may change on holidays; confirm them on the casino's own site before going.
- Carry valid government-issued photo ID.
- Live tables: 12 PM to 3 AM; poker room: open 24 hours.
- Set a time and a spending limit before the doors, not after.
