Where and when

Elbow River Casino sits at 218 18 Avenue SE, Calgary, T2G 1L1. It stands at the corner of 17th Avenue S and Macleod Trail. The casino describes itself as part of the 17th Avenue district known as the Red Mile.

The casino's gaming floor is open seven days a week from 9:30 AM to 3:00 AM, and the doors open at 9:30 AM. The poker room follows a schedule of its own. Sunday through Wednesday it runs from 10 AM until 3 AM, and Thursday through Saturday it stays open 24 hours.

The venue does not publish separate hours for table games, and it does not list holiday hours. If live tables are the reason for an early visit, confirm with the casino first. A weekday morning or a lunch hour is the simplest daytime window: the doors are already open, and from Sunday to Wednesday the poker room opens at 10. The morning hours page sets these times alongside the other venues.

Getting in

In Alberta, gambling is limited to adults aged 18 or older. AGLC's casino rules oblige staff to examine government-issued photo ID whenever a guest seems younger than 25. Bring a valid, unexpired card, such as a driver's licence or a passport.

The casino does not publish a dress code.

On the floor

The gaming page describes a large slot floor, with denominations from 1¢ to $5. The machine games it lists include video poker, video blackjack, roulette and keno.

The poker room is described as a Vegas-style room focused on limit Texas Hold'em and limit Omaha, with both high-limit and low-limit hold'em. For the waiting list, the gaming page gives the poker room line, 403-206-0252.

There is also off-track betting with a racing theatre.

The casino's own site does not name a loyalty program. Winner's Edge is AGLC's player rewards program, and its program site describes it as working at casinos throughout Alberta. With government ID in hand, members collect their card from Guest Services.

Food and extras

The casino's about page lists three eateries, covering pub food, buffets and Asian cuisine. The current outlet names and their hours are not published there, so check with the venue before planning a meal around a visit.

On Friday and Saturday nights, local bands take the stage for live music, and a Yuk Yuk's Comedy Club operates inside the casino as well. Band and comedy schedules are worth confirming on the casino's own site ahead of a visit.

Getting there

Without a car, the trail starts at Victoria Park / Stampede CTrain station. The venue describes it as a stone's throw away, about a block. It does not publish a distance in metres. Station maps are on Calgary Transit, and the without a car page gathers transit notes for every venue in this guide.

By car, the homepage describes secure, air-conditioned underground parking. The venue's own social page calls it free, heated underground parking. Rates, height limits, accessible stalls and EV charging are not published.

The venue does not post accessibility details either. Visitors with specific needs may wish to ask ahead.

Before you go

  • Doors open at 9:30 AM daily. From Sunday to Wednesday, the poker room's opening time is 10 AM.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Confirm table-game and dining hours with the venue, since neither is published.
  • Decide on a time and a spending limit before you arrive.

A GameSense Info Centre is located within each Alberta casino, and GameSense explains odds and house edge. For confidential support at any hour, call or text 211, or call the Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta), 24/7 and toll-free, at 1-866-332-2322. Self-exclusion is available at selfexclusion.ca. More on this is on the play safe page. To compare notes on the other venues, return to the field notes.
